We’re delighted to announce the successful delivery of five brand new Treka mobility vehicles to Redcar and Cleveland Council, marking another milestone in our ongoing partnership.

The council has invested in a mixed fleet comprising three Mobility + and two Mobility vehicles, all purpose-built to support their vital adult and children’s social care services. These versatile 16-seater vehicles, which can alternatively accommodate up to six wheelchairs.

Built on the reliable Mercedes-Benz Sprinter platform with automatic transmission, each vehicle comes equipped for passenger comfort and safety. The air conditioning system ensures a comfortable environment year-round, while the underfloor tail lift makes boarding smooth and dignified for wheelchair users. Safety is paramount with the door safe barrier system, which prevents accidents during boarding, and the integrated CCTV provides peace of mind for both drivers and passengers while helping the council maintain high standards of care and safeguarding.

Fleet Manager Gareth Healy was kind enough to share his thoughts on the delivery, and his response highlighted what we strive for every day: cost-effectiveness, reliability, and exceptional after-sales support. “Treka vehicles are reliable and come with good after-sales,” Gareth explained. “The vehicles were delivered on time with good communication throughout the process. From a procurement perspective, these vehicles demonstrated best value for money.”

Cabinet Member for Highways at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, Cllr Carl Quartermain, said: “Investing in these new Treka vehicles is a positive step that strengthens our ability to deliver safe, reliable and accessible transport for some of our most vulnerable residents. These vehicles have been designed with comfort, dignity and safety at their core, ensuring that both adults and children who rely on our social care services are supported in the best possible way.”

This order is particularly significant as these five vehicles have replaced hire vehicles in the council’s fleet, reducing ongoing hire costs and providing a more sustainable long-term solution.
