East Riding of Yorkshire Council has taken delivery of eleven new Treka Mobility vehicles, marking another step forward in the council’s commitment to reliable, accessible transport for its communities. The new fleet additions will support a wide mix of services including home to school transport and adult day centre operations.

The vehicles are built on the Mercedes Benz Sprinter platform and designed with everyday practicality in mind. Each one provides seating for fourteen passengers or up to five wheelchair users, giving the council the flexibility needed across varied routes and service demands. Key features include an inboard tail lift for smooth boarding, detachable seating, a sidestep for safe entry, a three sided storage pen in place of the dual front passenger seat and a five camera CCTV system that supports visibility and safety.

With a fleet of around 120 vehicles, and seventy of these already supplied by Mellor and Treka, the council continues to invest in familiar and proven products.

Transport Operations Manager Mandy Rydel commented: “The vehicles meet our specification requirements, with continued improvements in quality. All were delivered in a timely manner with clear communication throughout the contract.”

This experience played an important role in shaping the latest order. The tender process focused on vehicles that delivered the right balance of cost efficiency, size, reliability and timely delivery. The Mobility met each of these requirements while supporting the council’s plan to reduce running costs across its transport network.

These new vehicles will go straight into service, helping residents travel safely and comfortably every day.
