We are pleased to announce the recent delivery of four Treka mobility vehicles to Calderdale Council, marking another significant milestone in a partnership we have been proud to develop over several years.

As a long-standing Treka customer, Calderdale already operates a substantial and well-established fleet, comprising 64 Mellor and Treka vehicles alongside 8 factory-built Transits. The council’s latest requirement, for three new mobility vehicles, was brought to market through a competitive tender process. Following a thorough evaluation, Treka was awarded the contract on the strength of our pricing, social value contribution, and lead times.

The three vehicles will be deployed to support Calderdale’s SEND home-to-school transport service, providing safe and comfortable daily journeys for children with special educational needs and disabilities. This is the type of work that underpins Treka’s purpose as a manufacturer, and every element of the specification has been considered with that responsibility in mind.

Each vehicle has been configured to accommodate 16 passengers or 6 wheelchairs, with accessibility integrated throughout the design. A side sliding door, paired with a slide-out step, ensures straightforward boarding, while the underfloor tail lift provides efficient wheelchair access without compromising interior space. The interior features seating with dual all-age seat belts, complemented by cut-outs in the seat backs. These cut-outs allow a Houdini harness to be threaded down through the cushion and around the rear of the seat, securing children safely in, an important safeguard for the young passengers Calderdale’s service supports each day. An air system maintains a comfortable cabin environment in all conditions, while automatic transmission, an Auto sound system, and full CCTV coverage complete the specification, providing drivers with the tools and confidence to focus fully on the journey and safety of passengers.

Throughout the project, we worked closely with Phil Taylor, Transport Services Manager, and Simon Scargill, Vehicle Service Manager at Calderdale Council. Reflecting on the experience, Phil Taylor commented: “Following the successful tender award, the process was seamless from pre-build through to delivery.
